Growth Energy Commends Legislation to Extend RVP Waiver to E15

WASHINGTON, DC — Following the introduction of legislation by Senators Donnelly (D-Ind.), Grassley (R-Iowa) and Fischer (R-Neb.) that would extend the Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) volatility waiver to E15, allowing retailers to offer E15 without restriction and expanding consumer choice at the pump, Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy, issued the following statement:

“We applaud Senators Donnelly, Grassley and Fischer for recognizing the need for competition in the marketplace and taking the lead on this important issue in Congress. The current regulatory treatment of E15 creates a disincentive for retailers to sell E15 or higher biofuel blends, even though they improve the quality of our air, and denies consumers access to a fuel that meets their price and performance needs. This legislation has the potential to remove this major obstacle and encourage the adoption of new fuels that will benefit our environment, our economy and our energy security.

“We are hopeful that this legislative effort is successful and that summertime sales of E15 will no longer be restricted. Consumers should not have to check their calendars to see if they will have a choice when they pull up to the pump.”
