Reed has dedicated the past 20 years to understanding and addressing the productivity and profitability needs of farmers and ranchers worldwide. Prior to his current position, he served as president, Worldwide Agriculture & Turf Division, Production & Precision Ag, including oversight of the North and South American and Australian markets. He also served as the Ag & Turf president responsible for the Crop Care, Crop Harvesting, and Turf and Utility businesses.
His prior leadership assignments included president, John Deere Financial; senior vice president, Intelligent Solutions Group; senior vice president, Global Marketing Services; marketing manager for large tractors; branch and region sales manager roles in Europe; and division and territory manager roles in the U.S. He joined Deere in 1998.
Reed helped lay the foundation for John Deere’s current precision-farming platform. Under his leadership, the company introduced new line-ups of high-horsepower tractors, combines, and sprayers, and an innovative suite of precision ag hardware and applications, including See and Spray™, ExactShot™, and FurrowVision™. These advanced solutions help customers operate more productively, profitably, and sustainably.
He is a strong advocate for the global agricultural industry and serves on the board of Growth Energy. He also served on the boards of the Global Harvest Initiative, the National FFA Foundation, and America’s Cultivation Corridor. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a bachelor’s degree in finance, and received a juris doctor degree from Ohio State University College of Law.
