State legislators in Nebraska recently introduced a bill that would provide consumers with access to E15 by requiring the fuel to be sold statewide by 2027. The bill would be paid for with funds for infrastructure, in addition to federal infrastructure funding through the Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP) and the recently enacted Inflation Reduction Act. The bill is very similar to legislation enacted last year in neighboring Iowa that requires E15 to be sold statewide by 2026. Growth Energy is actively engaged in support of the legislation with lawmakers and stakeholders on the bill and we will continue to keep you updated on its progress in the unicameral. Read the full text of the bill here.

On January 17-18th, EPA’s Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Federal Advisory Committee held a meeting in Washington to discuss various EPA initiatives that impact rural communities and farms. Of note, Ben Hengst from the Office of Transportation and Air Quality presented some background on the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and their current proposal on the RFS “Set”. The agenda for the EPA’s meeting can be found here. Growth Energy has a consent decree in place with EPA to issue the final RFS Set proposal by June 14th and was mentioned as one of the primary stakeholders engaged with EPA on the RFS.
