In the News: “Small refinery waivers remain top concern”

Growth Energy member Eamonn Byrne of Lakeview Energy recently participated in our May Capitol Hill fly-in, where he met one-on-one with lawmakers and their staff to share the challenges the biofuels industry is facing. In an interview with Brownfield Ag News, Byrne shared that EPA’s radical expansion of small refinery exemptions was the main topic of conversation during the fly-in:

“The most ironic part is some of the largest multi-billion-dollar companies in the US were recipients of those waivers which in my eyes and I think in the eyes of the agricultural community is completely unjust.”

Byrne says he is also anxious to see year-round E-15 be finalized.

“That could create up to seven billion gallons of new ethanol demand and two billion bushels of corn for the American farmer which is over a 50% jump from E-10.”
