WASHINGTON, D.C. – Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor thanked rural America’s top elected leaders for their ongoing efforts to restore demand for biofuels under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). In letters from seven U.S. senators and the governor of Iowa, these leaders from across the heartland submitted formal comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) demanding the agency accurately account for the loss of biofuel demand created by the misuse of refinery exemptions.
“The EPA must honor President Trump’s commitment to fully restore vital markets for American farmers and biofuel workers,” said Skor. “We’re deeply grateful to our champions across the heartland who continue to make it clear that we can no longer afford to play regulatory games with EPA while biofuel plants continue to close their doors. We need a real fix based on actual gallons lost, and we need it now.”
The letters from Senators Grassley, Ernst, Fischer, Thune, Rounds, Blunt, and Braun and Governor Reynolds echoed Growth Energy’s testimony last week during a public hearing on the EPA’s proposed supplemental rule for 2020 biofuel targets.
