WASHINGTON, DC — In response to Protec’s announcement that E15 is now being offered at three Protec Fuel-Gulf stations in the Atlanta metro area, Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy, issued the following statement:
“I would like to congratulate Protec for bringing higher performing, lower cost fuel options to consumers in Georgia. Protec recognizes that E15 is a win for both retailers and consumers, and its ongoing efforts to find new locations to offer the homegrown renewable fuel shows that it is a leader in the marketplace.
“Thanks to Protec, motorists in the Atlanta metro area will be able to fill up with E15 at 10 different locations by the end of the summer. The demand for E15 is strong, and we believe that when consumers are given the choice, they will choose the less expensive fuel that is better for their engines and our environment – one that creates jobs in America and reduces our dangerous dependence on foreign oil.
“E15 has been exhaustively tested by the Department of Energy and is compatible with more than 80 percent of the cars on the road today. Millions of miles have been driven on E15 without a single issue, and with a price tag well below that of regular gasoline, it is clear why more and more retailers are choosing to offer the fuel.”
Nationwide, moving to E15 would create another 136,000 American jobs that can’t be outsourced, reduce the demand for foreign oil by 7 billion gallons and eliminate up to 8 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year — the equivalent of taking 1.68 million vehicles off the road—all while saving consumers money at the pump. E15 is currently offered at more than 120 stations in 18 states across the country.
