Growth Energy Supports Sen. Bingaman’s Proposal to Expand Renewable Fuels through Infrastructure

WASHINGTON, DC – Growth Energy, the leading voice for U.S. ethanol supporters, issued the following statement in response to a floor speech given by Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.) yesterday in which he identifies infrastructure as a way to expand the renewable fuels industry and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis said, “Sen. Bingaman has precisely identified the barriers that are preventing renewable fuels, like ethanol, from entering the market. If we can get the infrastructure built out so that consumers can choose their fuels – instead of having their choice made for them – then alternative fuels like ethanol can compete against oil without government assistance or interference. We need Flex Fuel Pumps in the ground and Flex Fuel Vehicles on the road. We look forward to working with Sen. Bingaman and others in shaping this plan in Congress.”
