President Obama: We Can Rebuild American Economy Through Renewable Fuels

WASHINGTON, DC — Following President Obama’s speech from Growth Energy’s member plant POET-Biorefining in Macon, Mo., CEO Tom Buis issued the following statement:

“Let me repeat what we heard the President of the United States say: domestic ethanol can play a significant role in making our nation more energy independent, rebuilding our economy and creating U.S. jobs. As the President said himself, “there shouldn’t be any doubt that renewable, homegrown fuels are a key part of our strategy for a clean energy future – a future of new industries, new jobs in towns like Macon, and new independence.”

Buis singled out the President’s remark that he wants our country to see the Macon ethanol plant as a model in technology and job creation, saying that it is a “success story that can be emulated across the country.”

“I commend the President for coming out to an ethanol plant in rural America and reiterating his support for renewable fuels, like ethanol, which create U.S. jobs while cleaning our environment and strengthening our national security.”
