ELC 2021: Moving the Product

The Moving the Product panel featured a conversation between Jim Pirolli of The Andersons, Craig Willis of Eco Energy, and Klay Gross of POET Ethanol Products, and was moderated by Growth Energy’s new Senior Vice President of Market Development Mike Lorenz

  • Craig Willis joined us from Eco-Energy, one of the largest biofuel distribution companies in the country. He’s a familiar face around here as he joined Eo-Energy after previously serving as Growth Energy’s Senior Vice President of Global Markets.
  • Klay Gross joined us from POET, where, as Executive Vice President of Ethanol Products, he is responsible for all commercial activities associated with Poet Ethanol Product’s ethanol business. He also serves as Chairman of Prime the Pump.
  • Jim Pirolli brings years of ethanol marketing experience as Senior Vice President of The Andersons and is on the Growth Energy Board of Directors. Prior to his role there he served as Vice President of Fuels at Kum & Go Convenience stores.

These top ethanol marketers from the industry provided insight as to what’s going on in the markets and what to expect in the coming years.

During the panel, the speakers answered questions on the current market for E15, and how they see it evolving, and opportunities abroad, including in Canada and Brazil. They also discussed how the Prime the Pump program has influenced what we are seeing today, and what the most important future opportunities are for our industry.

Mike Lorenz, who was most recently with Sheetz, noted that Sheetz would not have found the success it has with E15 if it had not been for Growth Energy and Prime the Pump.
