Motorcycle Groups Lobbying Against Fuel They Cannot Legally Use

WASHINGTON, DC — In response to the American Motorcycle Association’s (AMA) lobbying efforts against E15 on Capitol Hill today, Tom Buis CEO of Growth Energy released the following statement:

“Today’s political theater is just that – the AMA knows that motorcycle operators are not legally allowed to use E15. So, it seems to me they are just doing the bidding of Big Oil and other special interest groups to prevent consumers from having a choice when it comes to filling up at the pump.

“The Environmental Protection Agency has been very clear – E15 is legal for use only in light duty trucks and cars, vehicle models 2001 and newer. E15 is not for use in motorcycles and small engines for ATV’s or weed whackers, which begs the question, what is the point of today’s exercise?

“The fact of the matter is that the EPA and stakeholders have taken the necessary steps to ensure proper labeling to prevent any possible misfueling. Today’s demonstration might as well be the AMA protesting the sale of diesel at gas stations.

“Well, we all know the answer – this is just more of the same from special interests that want to keep us addicted to the failed status quo of our dependence on foreign oil while simultaneously preventing consumers who can use E15, a choice and savings at the pump.”
