WASHINGTON, DC — Following recent calls for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to waive the current volume goals of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), Growth Energy and the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) will be holding a joint press conference to discuss the current drought, ethanol production and the unnecessary calls to waive the RFS. Additionally, RFA and Growth Energy will discuss the built in flexibility of the RFS and how the market is already responding to the current situation, as well as address a number of inaccuracies and misinformation surrounding the use of corn in the production of ethanol.
WHO: Tom Buis, CEO of Growth Energy and Bob Dinneen, President and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association
WHAT: Tom Buis and Bob Dinneen, the Chief Executives of the two largest ethanol trade associations, will address the current misinformation about the drought, ethanol production and explain why a waiver of the RFS is unnecessary. Waiving the current RFS requirements would not only affect job loss, but would also increase the price of gasoline for consumers and continue our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.
WHEN: 12 p.m. EDT, Thursday, August 2.
WHERE: The National Press Club, 529 14th Street Northwest Washington, DC 20045
Toll free participants 800-735-5968

NOTE: This press conference will be open exclusively to media outlets. Those unable to attend may obtain call in information by emailing Taryn Morgan at tmorgan@ethanolrfa.org. Lunch will be served. Video and audio will be available for distribution after the event.
