South Dakota to Award Grants for Flex Fuel Pumps

Governor’s Office of Economic Development now accepting applications for the Ethanol Infrastructure Grant Program

WASHINGTON, DC — Growth Energy applauds South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard and the Office of Economic Development (GOED) for authorizing the Ethanol Infrastructure Incentive Program, providing $960,000 in funding during Fiscal Year 2013.

“South Dakota has always been at the forefront of providing its consumers with more choices at the pump. Today’s decision only further enhances the state’s reputation as being a leader in the domestic energy market. Now, motorists will have increased access to homegrown, cleaner burning renewable fuel. Governor Daugaard is a true champion of ethanol and a leading voice when it comes to the future progress of the industry,” stated Growth Energy CEO, Tom Buis.

The grant program was created in 2012 to help businesses offset the cost of installing Flex Fuel pumps, which offers higher blends of ethanol like E15, E30 and E85. Last year, the program resulted in 55 new Flex Fuel pumps at 26 locations.

“Last year proved the success of this program, providing economic growth opportunities for local business and real cost-savings for consumers. I am excited for the continued growth and progress of this project.”
