Growth Energy Reacts to President’s Speech at Rural Economic Forum

WASHINGTON, DC — Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis released the following statement in response to remarks given by President Obama at the White House Rural Economic Forum in Iowa, as part of his three-day bus tour in the Midwest. Buis will be participating in a breakout session at the forum this afternoon at 1:55pm ET to discuss the role that biofuels, like ethanol, can play in reducing our dependence on foreign oil and creating jobs that can’t be outsourced. Audio from the session can be accessed here.

“We commend the President for his resolute commitment to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and create American jobs through the promotion of domestically produced biofuels like ethanol,” said Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis. “Ethanol, made right here on America’s fields, has provided an unparalleled, value-added opportunity for agriculture and America. It has generated good paying jobs, spurred economic activity and strengthened rural communities. With the continued support of this Administration, our nation can expand the production and consumption of ethanol and other renewable fuels from a variety of feedstocks to ensure the strength of our economy and national security.”
