Washington, D.C. – Today, Growth Energy’s co-chairman, General Wesley Clark released the following statement on the news that Valero Renewable Fuels will purchase seven ethanol plants from VeraSun Energy:
“We welcome Valero to the industry. We hope that Valero’s interest represents an understanding among oil companies at-large that ethanol is a critical part of the nation’s fuel supply as the only viable alternative to foreign oil. Indeed, Valero’s investment reinforces the importance of ethanol as a long-term solution to our nation’s challenges by creating green collar jobs, reducing our dependence on imported oil, and helping to improve our environment.”
