Ag Buyers, Suppliers Head to Minneapolis for Export Exchange 2022 |
This week, more than 200 international buyers and end-users of coarse grains and co-products from more than 50 countries are gathered in Minneapolis for Export Exchange 2022, meeting with nearly 300 U.S. suppliers and service providers across the value chain. Co-sponsored by the U.S. Grains Council, Growth Energy, and the Renewable Fuels Association, Export Exchange 2022 offers attendees an unparalleled opportunity to meet and build relationships with domestic suppliers of corn, distillers dried grains and solubles (DDGS), sorghum, barley, and other commodities. "We're excited to welcome U.S. producers and international grain buyers to Minneapolis this week for face-to-face business and relationship building and an opportunity to share the important role ethanol and its coproducts, like DDGS, play in countries across the globe and in supporting agriculture," said CEO Emily Skor.
The global buyers have been broken down into 20 trade teams that have either been in the United States ahead of Export Exchange or will continue their visits after the event to see corn-growing states during harvest, explore DDGS production at ethanol plants, view port facilities, and more as they build their networks with U.S. suppliers. |

U.S. Treasury Releases Six IRA Notices for Comment |
As you know, President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law in August. This law represents one of our nation’s most significant investments in clean energy and biofuels, including credits for emerging industry technologies like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and carbon capture.
Now that the bill has been signed into law, we are closely engaging and monitoring the implementation of the IRA at the Department of the Treasury and other federal agencies. To that end, this week, the Treasury released six initial notices asking for comment on a variety of issues and provisions. Most notably for the biofuels industry, Treasury is looking for comments on the Prevailing Wage, Apprenticeship, Domestic Content, and Energy Communities provisions of the "credit enhancements", including 45Q and 45Z, and on direct pay and transfer of credit provisions of the "credit monetization" notice for 45Q and 45Z. A Treasury fact sheet on the notices can be found here and the notices themselves can be found here. Treasury is seeking comments by November 4, 2022, and Growth Energy will be commenting accordingly.

Growth Energy Welcomes Colombia Delegation to Washington |
Last week in Washington, we welcomed the Colombian 2022 Eco-Friendly U.S. Fuel fellows to the office for a discussion on international market development of ethanol and the environmental benefits of higher blends. We were pleased to have this thoughtful group of scholars and leaders as part of our efforts to spread the word on the benefits of biofuels across the globe as countries deal with rising energy costs and emission reduction efforts. |
