Director of Technology

Reports To: CEO
Location: Washington, DC

OVERVIEW

The Director of Technology will manage the technical portfolio on issues impacting members of Growth Energy. Core responsibilities will include establishing research priorities and coordinating and overseeing delivery of research workload.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess and develop research priorities; oversee and manage execution of research with academic and industry partners.
  • Provide environmental/technical interpretations for Growth Energy plant members.
  • Coordinate technical and environmental committee activities including development, prioritization and resolution of regulatory matters and standard setting issues.
  • Interface with GE Technical Committee on technical issues and policy development including regulatory (i.e. EPA, state Environmental Agencies, state Weights & Measures) and non-regulatory (i.e. ASTM, CRC, et al.)
  • Oversee Growth Energy Science Fellows program, which provides analysis of public policy, validation of scientific and economic models, interpretation of technical literature and creation of white papers.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in biological, environmental, agricultural sciences or related field; demonstrate ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines in collaborative efforts; an ability to effectively translate complex scientific literature into layman’s terms; and have strong communications skills. Candidates with ethanol industry, business and public policy experience are highly desirable.
